Anticipation is building as we herald the birth of our Lord!It’s kind of a funny thing. We recognize that Christ has already come, but we look at our world and still see that we need him to come. We live in what theologians call the “already-not-yet.” This season reminds us that we are in this place, and it is a hopeful place. Because He has come into our world, we can participate as He heals and restores!A few ways that we are participating in this over the next week.- Please bring your Gabriel Project gifts THIS SATURDAY! If you will not be there, contact either me or Josiah: josiah.fehlauer@saturdaynightcommunity.org- Tomorrow night, we will be discussing “serve all”. How are we to participate in God’s beautiful restoration?- Our SNCC Christmas EP is available on our website: www.saturdaynightcommunity.org! Thanks for your hard work!- We will be co-hosting a Christmas Eve worship gathering at 11pm, 12.24.08 for those who will be around. We are joining with three other communities (Eikon, Rivendell, Agora, SNCC). Our very own band will be leading the music and Jeff Taylor (Agora’s pastor) will be sharing a short homily. The gathering will end at midnight.If we don’t see you, have an AMAZING Christmas and New Year. It is really cool to be part of this community with all of you!Peace Be With You,Preston SharpeLead PastorSATURDAY NIGHT Community Church

Dec 11

Hey everyone!

Hope you are having a great week!

This week is the third week of Advent. We are reflecting on the idea of “giving more,” ways to give of our lives and our time to each other this Christmas. We will reflect on the scriptural story in reference to giving and look at the gifts of the Magi, of Mary, and God’s gift of Himself. Also, Amy Sawyer will lead us in thinking about creative ways to give this Christmas.

Remember to join us at 6pm for cookies! Also, remember to bring in your gifts for Pioneer Plaza folks.

Take a few minutes in the next couple of days to reflect on Mary’s song:

Luke 1:46″ My soul exalts the Lord,

47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.

48 “For He has had regard for the humble state of His bondslave;

For behold, from this time on all generations will count me blessed.

49 “For the Mighty One has done great things for me;

And holy is His name.

50 “AND HIS MERCY IS UPON GENERATION AFTER GENERATION

TOWARD THOSE WHO FEAR HIM.

51 ” He has done mighty deeds with His arm;

He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart.

52 “He has brought down rulers from their thrones,

And has exalted those who were humble.

53 “HE HAS FILLED THE HUNGRY WITH GOOD THINGS;

And sent away the rich empty-handed.

54 “He has given help to Israel His servant,

 In remembrance of His mercy,

55 As He spoke to our fathers,

 To Abraham and his descendants forever.”
